EMS vs. TENS: What's the Pulse Stimulation?

EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) and TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) involve applying electrodes to the skin near an affected muscle to send an electrical current to the area. This current causes rhythmic muscle contractions.  They are two non-invasive physical therapy technologies that may help stimulate muscle contractions or treat pain. Both are sometimes called pulse stimulation.

EMS has the following major benefits.

  • Tones and Tightens Muscles
  • Relieve Muscle Stiffness
  • Increase Muscle Endurance
  • Boost Blood Circulation

TENS is used to relieve pain and muscle spasms caused by a wide range of conditions including:

  • Back Pain.
  • Chronic Pelvic Pain.
  • Diabetes-related Neuropathy.

Muscle conditioning is FDA approved intended use of EMS-related products.  In the product category of muscle conditioning, we have a variety of EMS ab toning belt products specifically designed for waist and abdomen, specifically targeting rectus abdominis, internal obliques, external obliques and transversus abdominis.  Through innovative design in materials, processes, and technology, we have made our products safer and more comfortable to use, and have optimized their efficacy to obtain firmer muscles.

TENS has been widely used for pain relief for many years in Europe and the United States.  In the product category of pain relief, we have some innovative products combining with TENS technology specifically designed for abdomen and lower back.  They are quite helpful to treat a wide range of acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) pain conditions.
